COTTON MAKO

Made from long staple Egyptian cotton, Cotton Mako is excellent for detailed machine embroidery, red work, quilting, lace embroidery and serging. This thread has really taken off with machine quilters and has been used in numerous award-winning quilts.

Long staple cotton gives this thread the strength needed for high-speed machines. Cotton Mako is also mercerized, giving it sheen - not found in most cotton threads.

Cotton Mako is available in four weights:

¤ 50wt for piecing quilts, machine lace making and all general-purpose sewing. Can be used for hand and fine machine appliqué. A size 80/12 needle is recommended.

¤ 40wt is the favourite thread for machine quilting on long-arm and domestic sewing machines. 80/12 needles can be used.

¤ 28wt is used for a slightly bolder look on redwork, hand quilting & decorative serging. It is also a fantastic thread for machine quilting. Use a size 90/14 needle.

¤ 12 wt. is very heavy and requires a large eye/topstitch needle. Use a size 90/14 needle. For heavy buttonhole-stitch appliqué, topstitching, decorative machine & serger work. It is also a favourite weight for redwork and handquilts.
